PC Recycling
One of the key ways of assisting the IT development of poor communities and developing nations is through the provision of recycled IT hardware.
Are you looking to recycle PCs? The peartree project do not currently recycle PCs however, there are many organisations throughout the UK that can probably help you. Digital Links is an UK-wide charity that specialises in recycling and distributing PCs. They also have an established programme for to the environmentally friendly disposal of placed hardware once it reaches the end of it’s useful life. If you are in Scotland you may want to contact Grangemouth Enterprises Ltd who aim to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill whilst providing technology training opportunities for the local community. They provide recycled hardware to organisations and low-income individuals in the UK and abroad. If you have a small number of PCs to recycle you may find the following link useful donate a pc.
